Inveo Maps App Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

Introduction

InvoMedia ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy when you use the Inveo Maps app. Inveo Maps lets you import and view georeferenced maps (GeoPDF and GeoTIFF) with your real-time GPS position overlaid, and optionally record GPS breadcrumb tracks while you hike, bike, or explore. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our Inveo Maps mobile application.

Information We Collect

Location Data

Inveo Maps uses GPS location to show your current position on a map. If you choose to record a track, the app also collects a series of GPS coordinates over time to build that track. Location updates continue in the background only while a track recording is actively in progress, and background updates stop as soon as you end the recording. All location data is stored locally on your device — it is never transmitted to InvoMedia or any server. You control location access at any time via iOS Settings, and you control track recording by starting or stopping it in the app.

Track Data

When you record a track, the app saves it as a standard GPX file in the app's local storage and indexes it in a local database on your device. Track files remain on your device unless you choose to share them yourself — for example, via the iOS share sheet (AirDrop, Files, Mail, or a third-party app of your choosing). We do not receive a copy when you share a track.

Imported Map Files

Map files (GeoPDF or GeoTIFF) that you import into the app are stored locally in the app's Documents folder. They are used only to render maps within the app and are never uploaded to InvoMedia or any third party by the app itself.

Map Downloads You Initiate

If you use the app's "download map from URL" feature, the app fetches the file directly from the web address you provide. This is a direct connection from your device to the host you specified — InvoMedia does not operate, proxy, or receive any data from that transfer.

Information We Do Not Collect

Inveo Maps does not use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. It does not require or support user accounts or sign-in. It does not collect device identifiers, contacts, photos, or usage statistics, and it does not transmit any data to InvoMedia's servers, because InvoMedia does not operate a server for this app.

How We Use Your Information

Data Storage and Local Privacy

All location history, recorded tracks, and imported map files are stored locally on your device, in the app's own storage and local database. Inveo Maps does not sync this data to any cloud service or InvoMedia server. The only way this data leaves your device is if you personally choose to share a track or file using iOS's built-in share sheet.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your location, track, or map data to third parties, because InvoMedia never receives this data in the first place. If you record a track and use the share sheet to send it somewhere (e.g., AirDrop to a friend, or open in another app), that transfer is initiated by you and governed by the privacy practices of the destination app or service. If you use the URL-download feature, the host you download from may have its own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review.

Data Security

Because your location, track, and map data stay on your device rather than passing through InvoMedia servers, the main safeguard is the security of your device itself. We recommend keeping your device secured with a passcode and keeping iOS up to date.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Location Permissions

Inveo Maps requests "While Using" location access to show your position on a map, and may request "Always" access so that track recording can continue while the app is in the background during an active recording. You can change these permissions at any time in your device's Settings app. Denying or later revoking location access will prevent the app from showing your position or recording tracks, but you can still view imported maps.

Children's Privacy

Inveo Maps is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app does not collect or transmit personal information to InvoMedia in the first place, no such information is retained by us regardless of user age.

Data Retention

Maps and tracks stored on your device remain there until you delete them yourself, either within the app or by deleting the app (which removes all of its local data). InvoMedia does not retain copies of this data, since it is never sent to us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Any significant changes will be communicated through app updates or notifications. Your continued use of Inveo Maps after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
